Vanity Sinks and Mirrors in New Moroxico

Viva Las Vigas
Even in my earliest sketches, I was including VIGA POSTS prominently in my design, both inside and outside the home. Vigas are the hand-carved columns you see in New Mexico that sort of resemble HUGE WOODEN BRAIDS.
Carving vigas, it turns out, is a very specialized and unique skill that is often passed down from father to son. I spent months painstakingly trying to find someone in Dallas who could craft these for me, only to be told time and time again that I needed to find a HIGHLY SPECIALIZED WOODWORKER with the proper expertise and experience.
I was able to locate such a man in (you guessed it!) NEW MEXICO, and was so impressed with his craftsmanship, that when it came time to address the ceilings, I used him yet again.

LATILLAS are gorgeously rustic pieces of pine and spruce that have been hand scraped—with varying degrees of thoroughness— and therefore have much more personality than the smooth bamboo poles I had originally intended to use.

Throughout New Moroxico, sometimes the best feature of a room is hiding just above your head, so always REMEMBER TO LOOK UP!
